Free hearing screenings offered
Derry Parks and Recreation hosts free hearing screenings at the Marion Gerrish Community Center, 39 West Broadway, beginning in February.
Screenings include evaluations, hearing aide maintenance and cleaning, minor hearing aid repairs and referrals to other medical experts.
All services are provided free by licensed hearing instrument specialist Christopher Streeter.
Screenings begin Feb. 6 and are held from 9 a.m. to noon. Call for information at 432-6136.
Local man named to national board
Jay Dunigan of Londonderry was named a member of the board of directors of the American Diabetes Association.
He is currently president of Diabetes Strategies LLC, based in New Hampshire, where he consults with corporations working in the field of diabetes, especially in the diabetes technology area and in understanding patient motivations.
He has more than 26 years experience in the diabetes care industry and has volunteered with the association since 1973. His family has been affected by the disease for generations.
Dunigan has also been a member of the Association’s Industry Advisory Board and currently serves on the American Diabetes Association’s Community Volunteer Development Committee and the Legislative Subcommittee.
In addition to his diabetes work, Dunigan is also an actor with a principal role in the upcoming Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, “The Makeover” airing on ABC on Jan. 27.
As a board member, Dunigan will work closely with the Association’s volunteers and staff on initiatives in support of the organization’s mission. He has been a member of two start-up companies involved in diabetes glucose monitoring technology.
‘Look Good, Feel Better’ offered
A “Look Good, Feel Better” event is offered for women with cancer on Feb. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dana-Farber New Hampshire Oncology-Hematology, 40 Buttrick Road, Londonderry.

Cancer support group offered
Dana-Farber New Hampshire Oncology-Hemotology offers a support group, “Living With Cancer” for those with cancer and families and caregivers.
Sessions are held Jan. 23, 1 to 2 p.m.; Feb. 5, 6 to 7 p.m.; Feb. 20, 1 to 2 p.m.; March 5, 6 to 7 p.m. and March 20, 1 to 2 p.m.
