DERRY — The Upper Room, a Family Resource Center, recently announced receipt of a $1,500 grant from the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund to operate its food pantry.
The Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund makes grants to tax-exempt organizations without regard to religious affiliation for projects that help people in New Hampshire meet their basic needs. The fund raises money through solicitation of individuals, businesses, and philanthropic organizations.
The Upper Room’s food pantry relies on donations (both food donations and monetary gifts) to serve the 120-plus families it feeds each month. Serving the Greater Derry community, the food pantry is open weekly, and offers healthy nutrition meal options to those in need.
“This generous grant from the Bishop’s Charitable Assistance Fund will go a long way in ensuring the sustainability of our food pantry. As always, the focus is on our community and this grant comes at a perfect time,” said Kimberly Bavaro, executive director of The Upper Room. “The summer season does not yield high amounts of food donations, so The Upper Room’s food pantry will make great use of these funds. We are extremely grateful to have been selected as a recipient of this grant.”
For those in need of meals, The Upper Room’s food pantry is open on Mondays from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Please call 603-437-8477 for more information.
