Saint Jude ‘Triple Play’ event set

LONDONDERRY — Saint Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, hosts a “Triple Play” event on Jan. 31 from 1 to 7 p.m. to help those in need.

The parish hosts three events to help save many lives including a blood drive, bone marrow typing drive and a living donor program.

The parish has hosted its winter blood drive for many years and will add the bone marrow event again this year. People can sign up to register as a potential bone marrow donor with a simple cheek swab and paperwork.

The Brigham and Women’s Hospital Living Donor Program will also be on hand to provide information about this life-saving donation. Londonderry resident and Saint Jude parishioner Rosemarie Meuse will be at the event. She is currently waiting for her own kidney transplant to survive.

Parkland to resume Healthy Aging series

DERRY — Parkland Medical Center, along with Parks and Recreation, resume the “Healthy Aging” lecture series.

It includes educational presentations on various health and wellness topics. The series resumes on Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. at Alexander-Carr Park Lodge, 28 Pierce Ave.

The topic for February will cover mental health and includes information on Alzheimer’s and dementia. The guest speaker is neurologist Dr. Jeffrey Rind.

The March installment of the series will be held March 19 at 3 p.m. at Alexander-Carr Park Lodge and deals with Medicare. The speaker will be Connie Young from ServiceLink.

All lectures are free of charge, but advance registration is required by calling 432-6136.
