Volunteers needed to help elderly

Elder Services is currently recruiting and training more volunteers to help the elderly remain safely in their homes for as long as possible.

Volunteers are needed to help with door-to-door transportation to medical appointments; with an advocate, to accompany the elder into the medical appointment; food shopping and picking up prescriptions; and companionship.

Elder Services needs more volunteers throughout the Merrimack Valley. Call Gerry at (978) 946-1445 if you can volunteer a few hours a month.

Free meditation sessions scheduled

DERRY — The Bodhi Meditation nonprofit organization is hosting a free meditation session at the Marion Gerrish Community Center, 39 West Broadway, and having practice every other Friday.

Sessions are scheduled for 10 a.m. April 6 and 20, May 4 and 18, and June 1, 15 and 29.

Bodhi Meditation offers a unique stress relief system that stimulates physical renewal and promotes general health. It revitalizes the mind and frees the spirit, which facilitates improvements in both mental clarity and physical well-being.

Mind-body awareness is an essential component of the Bodhi Meditation approach. It relies on this fundamental objective in the teaching of select and effective meditation techniques. The organization pursues these educational goals in order to promote greater mental and physical health within individuals.
