Donate blood in Derry Jan. 13

DERRY — January is a time of new beginnings. To help celebrate National Volunteer Blood Donor Month, the American Red Cross Blood Services is partnering with Dunkin' Donuts.

The Derry Police Department Winter Blood Drive is at Promises to Keep, 199 Rockingham Road, on Friday, Jan. 13, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Pizza, subs and more from Derry area restaurants will be provided. Each donor will receive a special Boston Bruins T-shirt, a coupon for a free pound of Dunkin' Donuts coffee and may enter a raffle for a chance to win four tickets to a Manchester Monarchs game.

Diabetes Healthcare of NH hosts Spickard

DERRY — Diabetes Healthcare of NH at Derry Medical Center hosts Dr. Brad Spickard at its free diabetes support group Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 6:30 p.m. at Wellness First, 14 Tsienneto Road Medical Park.

Spickard will discuss motivational factors and other psychological factors related to maintaining positive behavioral changes.

Dual Recovery meeting Wednesday

DERRY — A Dual Recovery Anonymous meeting is held every Wednesday, from noon to 1 p.m. at On the Road to Recovery, 12 Birch St.

Sponsored by the Derry Friendship Center, this is a non-professional organization established to help men and women who experience a dual disorder, meaning chemical dependency or other addictions, as well as an emotional or psychiatric illness.

Dual Recovery Anonymous is a 12-step, self-help program designed to support participants in a community of mutual support.
