Parkland gets stroke treatment certification
DERRY — Parkland Medical Center has recently received stroke certification that ultimately benefits residents that experience a stroke event.
The hospital received is honor from the Joint Commission Certified Stroke Center.
Chief nursing officer Eileen Keefe said the hospital is proud to receive the certification.
“We are proud to be named a Joint Commission Certified Stroke Center,” she said. “This award reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence and our mission to improve care for this community as a whole.”
Parkland Medical Center underwent a rigorous on-site assessment. A Joint Commission expert reviewed compliance with the requirements for the Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification program, as well as primary stroke center prerequisites such as collecting Joint Commission core measure data and using if for performance improvement activities. Other requirements included an interdisciplinary commitment to evidence-based practice, community and patient education and annual education of key personnel.
