SALEM — Parkland Medical Center’s new facility on Stiles Road in Salem is on track to open next spring.
The new, 50,000-square-foot outpatient facility will provide the Salem area with its first comprehensive urgent care center, along with expanded oncology and cardiology services.
Parkland marketing coordinator Jennifer Nickulas said the idea was to make the new facility as comfortable and warm as possible with patients’ needs in mind.
She said Parkland looked forward to the new site.
“Everyone at the hospital is very excited,” she said.
Nickulas said a lot of research went into the design of the facility with staff offering input on what would work best.
Parkland’s Chief Operating Officer Jeff Scionti said the new oncology center would be a total stop for all aspects of a patient’s care, from natural lighting to warm colors and special treatment rooms for groups or more individualized treatment.
Other health-related opportunities, including nutrition and Reiki sessions, will be available for the total care of a person dealing with cancer without that sterile, clinical atmosphere, officials said.
Parkland’s CEO Tina Legere said the move to Salem was a natural progression for the Derry-based hospital, given its long-term growth, success and its physician base.
“Parkland Medical Center has been serving Salem residents for many years,” Legere said. “The convenience of one-stop shopping for outpatient and urgent care services will eliminate the need for them to travel outside their community for care.”
