Birch Heights retirement facility, 7 Kendall Pond Road, hosts a free seminar, “What Level of Care Does Your Loved One Need?” on Aug. 24 at 10:30 a.m..
Senior living advisor Amy Gaskin of A Place for Mom will help educate families and seniors on a wide variety of topics related to senior living and will answer questions. Topics to be covered include independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and costs associated with elder care.

Course offered to older drivers
Birch Heights Retirement Community, 7 Kendall Pond Road, hosts an AARP driver safety course on Aug. 21 and Aug. 23. The two-part class is held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day.
It includes information on defensive driving techniques, age-related changes in vision, hearing and reflex time and other topics like safety belts, anti-lock brakes and air bags.
There are no tests given. The class is open to any driver, but is geared toward people over the age of 50.
The course fee is $14, $12 for AARP members. The course is taught by AARP instructor Dick Cote. Call 425-7755 to register.
