New rehab clinic offers fall risk assessments

Free fall risk assessment offered to seniors

DERRY — A new rehab clinic is offering older patients a chance to stay healthy and avoid falls in the new year.

Rehab in Motion Physical Therapy has opened a new clinic at 41 Birch St., across from Parkland Medical Center.

The business offers many programs, including a balance and risk assessment program to help protect senior citizens from falls.

Clinical director and physical therapist Mei Wu said Rehab in Motion uses a team approach to treat its patients.

“Rehab in Motion is a general practice team of therapists,” Wu said. “We use evidence-based approach to treat patients with orthopedic, neurological or cardiovascular impairments.”

She said the business sets itself apart by using advanced training and assessment equipment, coupled with the best management and documentation tools.

“That way our therapists can remain patient focused,” she said.

The clinic offers treatment for a variety of conditions, Wu said, including athletic injuries, post joint replacement conditions, stroke and work-related injuries.

The program for older patients is also important this time of year, Wu said, as the winter poses problems for seniors who may be at risk for falls.

Rehab in Motion’s balance program for the older population is designed to drastically reduce the risk of falling using isokinetic machines.

Seniors are invited to come to the clinic for a free fall risk assessment. Call 965-5200 for information.
