Pinkerton students build ramp

DERRY — Pinkerton Academy building construction technology students were out in the community lending a hand during vacation week.

The students were contacted by Kerry Durso, an independent living services coordinator, asking if the local students would be interested in building a wheelchair ramp for a disabled man in Derry.

Students planned and designed the ramp, and built the structure in the construction classroom.

They installed the ramp during vacation week.

The construction students have pitched in to help those in need in the community several times before and are also working on a new cold storage building on campus as part of the Academy’s Career and Technical Education expansion project.
