Derry School Board officials name retirees

DERRY — A handful of school district staff members have announced their retirement plans.

So far, only eight people have announced they would retire from their present school jobs at the end of the school year.

At a School Board meeting Feb. 12, officials noted the following staff members would be leaving the Derry district: Luanne Blanchard, Barka Elementary; Linda Digney, SAU; Pat Full and Rich Jaillet, West Running Brook Middle School; Bob Ramsdell and Cynthia Shea, South Range Elementary; George Valvis, Derry Village School; and Carol Vincent, East Derry Memorial Elementary.

School Board Chairman Brenda Willis said hearing who is retiring every year is always bittersweet.

“This (list) represents a lot of years and dedication to the Derry School District,” she said. “With mixed feelings, we say, ‘Have a wonderful retirement,’ but they will leave a big void.”

All retirees are traditionally honored at a School Board meeting at the end of the year.
