Lancer Spirit goes to Washington, D.C.

LONDONDERRY — For the sixth year in a row, a member of the Londonderry High School Lancer Spirit staff will be heading to Washington, D.C., to represent New Hampshire at the Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarship and Journalism Conference.

LHS junior matt Brown will make the trip this summer to attend the conference at The Newseum. He is the seventh student from Londonderry High to receive the Al Neuharth honor. Previous winners are Ryan Rivard, Katie Lannan, Eoghan Kelly, Jen DePiero, Meghan Rimol and Stephen Wong.

The Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarhip and Journalism Conference awards $1,000 college scholarships to rising high school seniors interesting in pursuing a career in journalism.

Special education meeting set May 14

LONDONDERRY — A free workshop, “Parents and Educators: Partners in the Special Education Process” is scheduled for May 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Moose Hill Council Chambers conference room at Londonderry town offices, 268B Mammoth Road.

The free workshop offers information on how to communicate effectively with educators in support of children with disabilities.
