Derry nursing student receives PEO grant

The International PEO Sisterhood presented a Program for Continuing Education grant of $3,000 to Roxanne Moerloos recently.

Moerloos, a Derry resident, is pursuing a degree in nursing at Manchester Community College. She is scheduled to graduate this spring.

The PEO Sisterhood, founded in 1869 at Iowa Wesleyan College, is a philanthropic and education organization, interested in bringing women increased opportunities for higher education. There are 5,959 local chapters in the United States and Canada, with nearly 250,000 active members.

PEO Program for Continuing Education was established in 1973 to provide needs-based grants to women in the U.S. and Canada whose education was interrupted and who must return to school to support themselves or their families.

Since its inception, more than $30 million in small grants has been awarded to more than 30,000 women.

Applicants are recommended and sponsored by PEO chapters.
