Hood hosts Faculty Follies April 4

DERRY — Gilbert H. Middle School hosts the annual “Faculty Follies” Friday, April 4, at the school.

The night begins with a dinner for families at 6 p.m., with the faculty talent show to follow. The cost is $6 per person or $20 for a family.

Cable classes to begin soon

DERRY — Derry Community Television offers video production classes for anyone wanting to learn more about operating equipment or producing a show.

Classes begin April 16 with the first class, Camera Basics, held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the studio located in the lower level of the municipal center.

Other class topics include set design, studio production, interviewing techniques and editing. All classes are free and open to the public.

Classes are held Wednesdays and Saturdays and are offered on a first come, first served basis. Call 845-5514 for information or visit derryctv.com for class schedule.

Chamber accepts scholarship applications

The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications the 2014 Kyle B. Ross Memorial Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic achievement, extra-curricular activity, and community service to a graduating high school senior.

Applicants of the Kyle B. Ross Memorial Scholarship must be an employee, dependent of an employee, or student whose employer or educational institution is a member in good standing with the Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce.

The application deadline is April 17 at 3 p.m.

The scholarship was recently renamed to honor the memory Kyle Ross, the son of Chamber member, director and business leader, Bernie Ross. Kyle Ross was a very dedicated student and employee who often gave back to his community.

The annual scholarship is funded through proceeds from the Chamber’s annual Taste of the Town event. That event is scheduled for April 24 at Castleton Banquet and Conference Center, 92 Indian Rock Road, Windham. The event is open to the public.
