N.H. Writers’ Project marks 25th year

MANCHESTER — The New Hampshire Writers’ Project is celebrating its 25th anniversary year.

“The Writers’ Project works hard to keep things fresh,” said Carla Gericke, NHWP’s acting executive director. “Over the past few years, we have introduced several fun, new programs to engage writers and readers across the state. It’s validating to see the greater community take note.”

In addition to NHWP’s annual Writers’ Day conference at Southern New Hampshire University, the other new programs include Writers’ Nights Out, a gathering in ten locations on the first Monday of every month, and Literary Flash: Three Minutes to Fame, where writers showcase their microfiction in front of an audience and esteemed panel of local judges.

NHWP also offers writing workshops, summer and winter socials, Author and Poets Schools, Book Clubs for Writers and Poets, and the upcoming biennial New Hampshire Literary Awards, which is now accepting nominations.

NHWP has added two new Literary Award categories this year. In addition to Children’s Literature, Fiction, Non-Fiction, Journalism, Poetry, and Lifetime Achievement, NHWP has introduced Young Adult and Book Cover Design. The Readers’ Choice online poll, which was launched in 2011, will also return once nominations close.

The 11th annual New Hampshire Literary Awards reception and ceremony will be held on Nov. 8 at the NH Institute of Art. This celebration, the culmination of NHWP’s 25th anniversary year, will be emceed by columnist and radio personality Mike Morin, the 2013 recipient of the Will Rogers Humanitarian Award.
