Derry, Londonderry head back to the classroom

Students in Derry and Londonderry schools headed back to the classroom this week.

Derry students started class Monday and Londonderry followed suit Tuesday.

Prior to the official opening day, first-graders and sixth-graders had their own chance to get used to their new schools before the onslaught of the entire student body taking to the hallways.

In addition, Derry unveiled its new NEXT charter school at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School with approximately 30 students in the inaugural alternative high school setting.

Pinkerton Academy also began its new year on Tuesday, but freshmen came the day before to find their way around the massive, 3,000-plus student campus.
