New CTE buildings unveiled

Pinkerton Academy officially unveils and dedicates its new Career and Technical Education facilities on Aug. 25 at 1 p.m.

The school upgraded its CTE facilities as part of a state funding initiative to improve the program.

Bus routes now available

Derry’s bus routes for the 2013-2014 school year are now available on the school district’s website.

Parents can find the bus information at sau10.org/district/bus-routes. School begins in Derry on Aug. 26.

PTA to hostgolf tourney

East Derry Memorial Elementary School’s PTA hosts its first benefit golf tournament on Aug. 30 at Hidden Valley Golf Course in East Derry.

The format is a four-person scramble with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $100 for adults, 17 years of age and older, and $80 for youth, 16 and under.

Price includes 18 holes of golf, share golf cart, shirt, barbecue lunch and prizes.

Register for adult studies classes

Derry Center for Adult Studies invites anyone wanting to learn a new craft, speak a new language, learn to cook, master technology, or take up ballroom dancing to register for a wide variety of classes being offered this fall.

Register in person on Sept. 16 and 17 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School. Registration can also be done by mail. Call for information at 432-1245. Classes begin the week of Sept. 23.

Workshop covers special ed rights

There’s a free workshop, “Basic Rights in the Special Education Process,” on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.

It will be at the Parent Information Center, 151A Manchester St., Concord.

This workshop provides participants with an introduction to the New Hampshire special education process. It includes a brief overview of each step, as well as a description of the important role parents have in the process.
