DERRY — A Pinkerton Academy administrator has been honored as an outstanding state leader in education.
The New Hampshire Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development selected Dr. Christopher Harper, Dean of Academic Affairs at Pinkerton Academy, as New Hampshire’s Outstanding Educational Leader of the Year for 2014.
Harper will receive the award during the N.H. Excellence in Education awards ceremony June 7 in Manchester.
The group selected Harper because of his collaborative leadership in developing professional learning events for thousands of New Hampshire educators and also his work in developing focused Professional Learning Communities, five-year student plans and a variety of STEM initiatives.
Harper has served as a teacher, administrator and educational leader for more than 30 years.
The group called Harper “an articulate public advocate for the Common Core State Standards and he was a key leader in Pinkerton developing its innovative Freshman Academy. Within NHASCD, he contributes skilled financial expertise and pioneering programming ideas, including the introduction of Summer Institutes and the improvement of the overall quality of NHASCD’s conferences.”
Harper was described as a passionate and devoted educator.
“He consistently models and motivates others to creatively address NHASCD’s mission of serving as a catalyst for conversation and action to inspire excellence in teaching, learning, and leading,” the group stated.
