---- — Clothing swap helped school Angel Fund
Ernest P. Barka Elementary School in Derry hosted a clothing drive earlier this month to support the school’s Angel Fund.
The Angel Committee collected clean, gently used clothing in all sizes for children for a clothing swap. Shoes, boots and jackets were also collected.
The “shopping” event was held during Barka’s Spring Fling event on April 12. For a $5 donation people could fill a bag to support the Angel Fund.
‘Knock your Sox Off!’
Londonderry’s North School Elementary celebrated National Library Week last week with a sports theme “Knock Your Sox Off” featuring a week full of reading, special activities and restaurant-themed fun.
The week began with a playing of the song, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” to start the school’s morning announcements. Grade five students also shared their favorite books during announcement time.
Each class that visited the library also had an “MVP” of the day and earned prizes.
Other school library activities included baseball trivia games for all grades, a day to wear favorite sports garb and all students receiving a baseball bookmark.
The school also hosted Greek Mythology Night and hosted a Battle of the Books competition for fourth-grade students.
