DERRY — Area art students were honored for their talents in the Scholastic Art Awards exhibit, taking top awards in categories like painting, drawing and photography.
The exhibit has been ongoing at Pinkerton Academy this month with the official awards ceremony held Feb. 4 at the Derry high school.
Top winners earned Gold and Silver Keys along with Honorable Mention awards.
Local winners included the following from Pinkerton Academy: Gold Keys, Samantha Brown sculpture; Chad Howard, sculpture; Skarlett Prittie, drawing; Max Norton, painting, digital art, drawing, mixed media and sculpture; Rachael Ready, digital art; Garbielle Russell, drawing; Skyler Oliveira, painting, and Laura Rounds, photography.
Silver Key winners from Pinkerton included: Evelyn Gaines, drawing; Erin Doble, photography; Aaron Spinney, ceramics; Sephra Mohammed, fashion; Kristen Benoit, ceramics and glass; Ari Gregg, mixed media; Calliee Thompson, sculpture; Max Norton, mixed media; Christian Rhoads, digital art, and Gabrielle Russell, drawing.
This was the 13th year for the Scholastic Art Awards, administered by the New Hampshire Art Educators' Association.
Top winners on the regional level move on to the national competition in New York City in June.
