Students honored at SkillsUSA

Student from high schools and technical education programs were honored this month with awards at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference held in Kansas City, Mo.

Industry leaders representing more than 1,100 businesses, corporations, trade associations and unions recognized the top students for their demonstrated excellence in 98 hands-on occupational and leadership contests including robotics, public speaking, aviation maintenance.

Students from the region recognized at the competition including Skill Point Certificate recipient Stephanie Crepeau, a Pinkerton Academy students, earning a gold medal for Prepared Speech; and Tyler Smith, also a Pinkerton Academy student, earning a Skill Point Certificiate in Technical Computer Applications.

More than 6,000 students representing schools and programs all over the nation came to the competition. SkillsUSA helps students discover and grow their career passions in programs teaching technical schools and other occupational programs.
