Derry school district honors its retirees

School Board honors many for their service

DERRY — The School Board honored the district’s retirees at a reception June 10.

Those saying goodbye after this school year were celebrated prior to the regular School Board meeting that night and received gifts including their framed original contracts.

Those honored and retiring this year are Debra Clark, East Derry Memorial food service; Ella Armstrong, administrative secretary to the superintendent; Lorraine Fuller, Gilbert H. Hood Middle School; Carole Lagerberg, South Range Elementary School; Donna O’Connor, Ernest P. Barka office staff; Ina O’Reilly, Grinnell Elementary; Janet Webster, Gilbert H. Hood Middle School food service; and Linda Perroni, Derry Village Elementary.

Also retiring from his post this year is Derry Village Elementary School principal Steven Miller. Assistant principal Chris McCallum will take over the lead job next year.

Miller began in the district as a physical education teacher, coming to Derry Village School in 1980. He eventually became the school’s assistant principal and then took the top job in 2003.

Superintendent Laura Nelson said all the retiring staff members would be missed and she celebrated their many decades of service to children in Derry.
