DERRY — Granite State Arts Academy has announced its summer class schedule, which begins June 19.
The school is located at 16 Route 111, Building 4. It is a charter high school dedicated to the arts.
All summer classes are open to the public and are taught by expert instructors.
“We are offering students a wonderful chance to nurture new interests or to strengthen their passions,” said Todd Abernathy, a school trustee.
Theater and film classes run July 21 through Aug. 1, and are taught by Emmy Award-winning producer Marc Murai.
Music classes for beginner through intermediate players of drums, guitar and bass will study in weekly lessons with Joey Leweck.
Fiction writers and poets of all levels can sign up for two five-week, intensive roundtable creative writing courses. The day sessions are specific for tweens and teens, with an evening class geared toward adults.
Each runs weekly on Wednesdays, July 2-30. Granite State also offers a four-week master class in creative writing Aug. 4-25.
Starting June 19, students can attend dance workshops with instructor Sarah Lowry. Studio classes cover hip hop, modern and jazz. They run all summer.
The school also offers Meditation with Melanie, a reflective and intrapersonal studio class running July 2-23. Students will be instructed by author, radio host and stress reduction expert Melanie Holden.
