This session provides an overview of the steps in the New Hampshire special education process.

NEXT Charter enrollment starts

Enrollment for Derry’s first charter high school, NEXT, is now underway. The new school is set to open in the fall at the former Derry Early Education Program space at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School.

The school will be led by co-directors Justin Krieger and Joe Crawford.

Crawford will officially leave his post as Hood assistant principal to begin working full-time at the charter school as of Jan. 28. In his absence Ross McLean, current Hood 7-1 composition teacher and certified school administrator, will take over as interim assistant principal.

“We are currently interviewing certified teachers to take over Mr. McLean’s composition class and we plan to transition this person into place by Jan. 28,” Hood principal Austin Garofalo said in a letter to parents.

Krieger is the assistant principal at West Running Brook Middle School and will also take on full-time responsibilities as the charter school work gets underway.
