Chester College to host 44th graduation
Chester College of New England will celebrate its 44th commencement ceremony May 12 at 10 a.m. in the Stockbridge Theatre on the campus of Pinkerton Academy in Derry. This year 35 students will receive Bachelor of Arts degrees.
Dr. Natacha Villamia Sochat, an interdisciplinary artist, will serve as this year's guest speaker. Dr. Sochat has taught at numerous institutions including School of the Museum Fine Arts, Boston, the New Hampshire Institute of Art, and most recently was Master Teacher in Studio Arts at the St. Paul's School Advanced Studies Program. Her work includes painting, printmaking, bookmaking, performance, video, drawing, and photography. She is a member of the College Art Association and has served on the Board of the Woman's Caucus for Art, NH.
Amy Gradzewicz, a fine arts major, will give the valedictorian address.
Pinkerton's FFA shines at conference
Pinkerton Academy's FFA won some top awards at the 82nd annual FFA conference held in Bartlett.
Both the Environmental/ Natural Resource and Food Science teams won first place. Samantha Watson, Ashley Clement, Kailyn Sylvia, Alicia Snyder, Chad Linehan and Emerald Wright will represent the state in national competition. The chapter also won first place in Chapter Display.
Ashley Clement won an individual first place in Animal Welfare. Emerald Wright placed second in Creed Speaking.
Erica Comeau will serve as Granite State FFA treasurer.
The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
Pinkerton Academy's Clicking Clan FFA was chartered in 1933, the third chapter in the state.
