DERRY — Pinkerton Academy will host its first Parent/Headmaster meeting of the year on Thursday, Sept. 26.
Topics to be discussed by Headmaster Mary Anderson include a proposed Unified Dress Code.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Stockbridge Theatre in the school’s Arts and Humanities building.
This is a new location for the meeting because school officials expect a large turnout.
The presentation will include a demonstration of clothing that might be offered to students in the future if a unified code is put into place.
A Unified Dress Code would allow students to wear similar clothing with individual options. The code is only under consideration.
If adopted, the new code would be implemented no earlier than the 2014-2015 school year.
Anderson gave preliminary details about possible unified dress rules at earlier meetings with Pinkerton trustees and other administrations.
Another topic on the upcoming Headmaster/Parent meeting is the new Common Core Curriculum.
The New Hampshire Department of Education describes Common Core as “a single set of clear educational expectations” (that) “provide a roadmap for what students should know and be able to demonstrate.”
Parents of all students in all classes are encouraged to attend the meeting.
