Creative kids compete in DI finals

DERRY — Pinkerton Academy is one of four local Destination ImagiNation teams headed to the Global finals this week in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Pinkerton team joins Londonderry teams from Matthew Thornton Elementary School and Londonderry Middle School.

The teams qualified for the world competition at the state finals at Winnicunnet High School.

Pinkerton students also won the Renaissance Award for Outstanding Design, Engineering, Execution or Performance for their Coming Attractions challenge during the state event.

The four teams are part of "Team New Hampshire," the 39 teams from around the state that will attend the world's largest creative problem-solving competition.

Destination ImagiNation challenges must be done solely by the team members, without help from parents and friends.

They will be competing in Knoxville with 1,200 teams from every state in the nation and Canadian provinces, as well as more than13 other countries.

The competition runs through May 26.
