---- — End-of-year surplus adds up at schools

As summer vacation gets closer, schools around the area are most likely dealing with an overabundance of lost and found items, often spread out in the school’s lobby on tables in the hopes students and families might stop by and recognize a long-lost coat, shirt or pair of gloves.

At Gilbert H. Hood Middle School, not only are there mounds of lost and found items still waiting for their rightful owners, but students and staff also collected boxes of food items to donate to local food pantries.

On June 19, school officials helped pack up more than 750 food items to be loaded up and donated to local food missions.
