Local FFA student to compete nationally
Pinkerton Academy FFA chapter member Ryan Cox has been selected to compete for national recognition in a career development event at the national FFA convention. Cox will be traveling to Indianapolis as he vies for national honors in the area of Creed Speaking.
Ryan qualified to represent New Hampshire by placing first in the event at the Granite State Association of FFA’s State Convention. Recently, Ryan took second place at the eastern region competition held at the Big E in West Springfield, Mass.
Creed Speaking is one of 24 career development event areas, covering job skills in everything from communications to mechanics. The Creed Speaking CDE is designed solely for members who qualified while in the seventh, eighth or ninth grade. The outstanding FFA members are recognized for their ability to memorize and present the FFA Creed then answer questions on the meaning and purpose of the Creed. CDEs help students develop the abilities to think critically, communicate clearly, and perform effectively in a competitive job market.
The National FFA Organization, formerly known as the Future Farmers of America, is a national youth organization of 579,678 student members.
