South fifth-graders assume mythological roles

South School fifth-graders enter mythological world

LONDONDERRY — Zeus reigned supreme and Aphrodite wooed the crowd.

South Elementary School fifth-graders got a lesson in Greek gods and goddesses and shared what they learned at Mythology Night March 19 at the school.

Parents and families came out to hear all about the most famous of the Greek characters, and also learned about the food and customs of the times.

Students took on the personas of popular gods like Apollo and Adonis, while others like Aphrodite and Hera told tales of their lives and what their favorite foods were.

As part of Mythology Night, students served up traditional dishes that might have been popular in those times.

Mythology Night was a way for students to learn all about the most famous of the gods and goddesses, dressing up for their parts and taking on the roles of the characters to share with visitors.
