LHS freshmen shine in literature

LONDONDERRY — Londonderry High School freshmen Andrew Jacobs, Alex Hawk and Kenneth Ayotte, from Rusty Brand's English classes, have been named state semifinalists in the Letters about Literature Program, a national reading promotion program of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.

International Night to benefit UNICEF

LONDONDERRY — Londonderry High's Project Our World, or POW, club will be holding an International Night at the school at 295 Mammoth Road on Saturday, May 5, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Informational booths will be set up in the main lobby and foods from around the world will be available in the cafe. Fifteen percent of the night's profits will go to UNICEF.

Londonderry students attend Model UN

LONDONDERRY — Londonderry High School social studies teacher Barbara Mee took six students to Plymouth State University April 14 and 15 to participate in PSU's Model United Nations.

Each student was assigned to a committee and a country. They were required to submit a position paper, based on materials they received from their committee chairman on a particular topic.

Students attending were Samuel Breslow, Nathan Mackay-Wright, Ryan Hamilton, Scott Murphy, Laura Thibaut and Julie Walker.

Awards are given at the event based on each student's participation within their committee and the quality of their position paper. Walker received this award from her committee chairman.
