Games a big hit in East Derry classrooms

DERRY — It’s an easy way to spend a few hours after school that doesn’t involve a television, video game or iPad.

East Derry Memorial Elementary School students are participating in afternoons of game fun, including time spent with classics like checkers, chess, cribbage and Yahtzee.

Students are learning a lot about getting along in a quieter setting, school officials say, and are learning how to reconnect to some of the world’s best games.
