DERRY — Saturday was a day full of firefighting and fun facts as Derry fire personnel opened the doors of the Central Fire Station to the public.
The open house event brought Derry firefighters and visitors together, teaching the guests a bit more about the fire department and how things work.
Children in attendance got a chance to get up close and personal with not only the massive fire engines and apparatus, but also had fun greeting Smokey Bear while learning about fire safety.
The day included safety demonstrations and other educational events to teach families about staying safe and what to do in case of a fire.
