---- — Benefit spaghetti dinner planned
A benefit spaghetti dinner to support Stephen Crooker and his family is planned for Sept. 28 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall, 18 Railroad Ave.
Crooker was injured on July 20 in a car accident and is recovering. The dinner will help support the family.
The cost for the dinner is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for children 3 and under. Call 434-8203 for information.
Rockingham Road work continues
Work continues on a portion of Rockingham Road to build a new bridge and install water, sewer and drainage utilities. Rockingham Road is closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week until the new bridge is online.
Detours continue to get motorists around that portion of the road that remains closed. Call Public Works at 432-6144.
The games seniors play begin Oct. 15
The Marion Gerrish Community Center on West Broadway offers a large schedule of games for area seniors. The schedule includes a Mahjongg class beginning Oct. 15 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Other games and their times are: bridge, Monday and Friday, 1 to 3 p.m.; Uno, Wednesday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.; bingo, Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m., cribbage, Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. and Forty Fives on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. Call the center at 434-8866 for information.
October Foxwoods trip planned
Parks and Recreation hosts a trip to Foxwoods Resort and Casino on Oct. 18.
The cost includes transportation both ways, and other coupons and deals. Meals are not included in the cost, but participants will get meal vouchers.

Downtown Trick-or-Treat set
Derry’s Downtown Trick-or-Treat event is sent for Oct. 26. The event begins with a costume parade and contest at Veterans Hall at 11:30 a.m.
Prizes will be given to children in various age categories. Businesses along Broadway, Crystal Avenue and Hood Commons will then open their doors for children to come get treats beginning at noon.
The townwide annual Halloween trick-or-treat is set for Oct. 31 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Upper Room hosts parenting classes
The Upper Room on Tsienneto Road offers a wide variety of parent education classes including Active Parenting of Teens, weekly support groups, parenting classes for teen parents, and workshops for separated or divorced parents.

Senior ‘Spooktacular’ luncheon planned
Parks and Recreation hosts a senior citizen “Spooktacular” luncheon on Oct. 31 at Alexander-Carr Park. The luncheon is free.
Participants are asked to bring a dish to share. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Tickets are needed to enter the luncheon and are available at the Recreation Office at 31 West Broadway. Call 432-6136 for information.
‘A Night in Paris’ set
The Upper Room hosts its 12th annual Family Matters auction with the theme “A Night in Paris” on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. at Promises to Keep in Derry. There will be raffles along with a silent and live auction.
