Renew clothing ministry at Calvary Bible Church, 145 Hampstead Road, is open on Sept. 14 from 8 to 11 a.m. This is a ministry of the church.
All clothes are clean and organized. Enter the church’s main entrance and Renew is on the right.
The ministry is open to all families in need or on a budget. Derry residency is not required. No donations are required. Search “Renew” on Facebook or call the church at 434-1516.
Birch Heights retirement community hosts a healthcare expo on Sept. 14 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the facility, 7 Kendall Pond Road.
Area health-care providers will be on hand with helpful information, materials and to answer questions.

Sign ordinance hearing planned
The Planning Board hosts a second public hearing on the town’s proposed updated sign ordinance on Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. in the municipal center’s third-floor meeting room.
Proposed amendments to the ordinance include basic language upgrades and other provisions to cover sizes and styles of signs in town for residential and business locations.

Library to host Minecraft Day
Taylor Library in East Derry hosts a Minecraft Day on Sept. 19 from 4 to 5 p.m.
Minecraft is a computer game allowing the player to build anything. Similar to Legos, players can collect resources for the building projects, but also must face challenges like spiders, zombies and other villains.

Monthly writing workshop planned
The Hyla Brook Poet’s group hosts a monthly writing workshop on the third Saturday of each month at the Robert Frost Farm, 122 Rockingham Road, Derry.
The next event is Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

Book swap planned Sept. 21
Birch Heights retirement community, 7 Kendall Pond Road, hosts a book swap on Sept. 21 at 11 a.m.
Visitors can bring books and then swap for others to take home. There will be raffles.
