Center offers Mahjong fun
The Marion Gerrish Community Center offers a six-week Mahjong course for area seniors, led by Martha Tomanello.
The session started Sept. 3 and runs through Oct. 8. Classes are held at the community center, 39 West Broadway. Reservations are required at 434-8866.
Gardeners plan flower show
The Derry Garden Club hosts a flower show on Sept. 7 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Derry, 40 Hampstead Road.
There will be floral exhibits and educational displays presented by club members and youth who participated in the club’s summer gardening project at the Boys and Girls Club.
Many club members are award-winning designers and will have their work on display. The show is free and open to the public. Call 434-0578 for information.
Senior Olympic games set
Birch Heights retirement facility, 7 Kendall Pond Road, hosts a Senior Olympic Games event to benefit Outward Bound for Seniors.
The event is set for Sept. 7 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at facility. There will be horseshoes, beanbag baseball, balloon volleyball and a golf putting course. Ribbons will be awarded to winners.

Garden Clubhosts designer
The Derry Garden Club holds its September meeting on Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Derry, 40 Hampstead Road.
The featured guest is floral designer Brad Harrington, who will present “Hat and Show Floral Design.” This meeting will also celebrate the club’s 78th anniversary and past presidents will be honored.

Caregivers hostbake sale
Community Caregivers of Greater Derry hosts a bake sale on Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mack’s Apples in Londonderry.
The sale features homemade treats like cookies, cupcakes, breads, and cakes. Donations are welcome. Those who donate are asked to have items individually wrapped and dropped off at Mack’s the day of the sale or the day before from 1 to 4 p.m. at Episcopal Church of St. Peter, 3 Peabody Row, Londonderry.
