Grant money supports camp for children

Child and Family Services of New Hampshire recently received grants from the Agnes Lindsay Trust and the Alexander Eastman Trust to send children from the Derry area to Camp Spaulding. The Agnes Lindsay Trust donated $2,000 and the Alexander Eastman Trust donated $6,615.

Grants will provide camp assistance to low-income, at risk-children, which will enable them to experience two weeks of residential camping.

Camp Spaulding is an overnight summer camp for boys and girls ages 8 to 14 that serves more than 300 campers throughout the summer. For information visit cfsnh.org.

Get in the Christmas spirit early this year and join Derry's Recreation Department for a trip to Boston's Wang Theatre on Dec. 11 to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular starring the Rockettes.

Departure is at 9 a.m. from Hood Commons for the 11 a.m. show, followed by a trip to Faneuil Hall Marketplace for free time for shopping and lunch. Derry resident fee is $52 per person and registration is underway. The non-resident fee is $62 per person and registration has started. The fee includes a ticket to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and coach bus ride to and from Boston.

Fall foliage trip is planned for Oct. 14

Derry Parks and Recreation hosts its annual fall foliage trip on Oct. 14. Travel through New Hampshire and Vermont to the Putney Inn in Vermont for a luncheon buffet. After lunch, travel to the Vermont Country Store for free time shopping. Pickup at senior housing complexes is 8:45 a.m., at Hood Commons it's at 9 a.m. The Derry resident fee is $30, nonresident fee is $40.
