Derry residents will see a hike in water rates

By Julie Huss

---- — DERRY — Residents will see their water bills increase this summer.

Town councilors approved a 1 percent increase in the town’s municipal water rates at a meeting March 5.

Deputy Public Works director Tom Carrier said the rate increase comes after Derry’s water supplier, Manchester Water Works, made some upgrades to its system and increased rates to their communities to offset those costs.

The rate will go from $2.147 to $2.50 per 100 cubic fee, and the minimum quarterly base charge will increase from $22.88 to $23.03 per living unit or commercial metered connection.

The average water bill will go from $338.52 to $342.12 per year.

The new rate will be in effect on all water bills issued after June 15.
