DERRY — Those who love to shop are invited to stop by a benefit craft fair/shopping event to help support those battling cancer.
The event is set for Saturday, Oct. 6, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Marion Gerrish Community Center, 39 West Broadway.
Many companies will be represented, including Lia Sophia, Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef, Mary Kay and Usbourne Books.
Local crafters and vendors will have handcrafted items and products for sale.
Proceeds will benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Organizer Colleen Bryer said shopping for products and helping others at the same time is a perfect mix.
Bryer is no stranger to supporting cancer research. She will participate for the third year in November’s Give Thanks Walk at the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem.
“I began working to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital when a friend’s niece got sick with cancer,” Bryer said.
Her efforts grew into more involvement with other regional projects to raise money for those battling the disease.
Bryer also came close to those with cancer while serving as a kindergarten teacher, seeing a young student fight for her health and ultimately succeed with a long-term remission.
“I am so thankful for my healthy, beautiful children and I can’t help but think I am helping in a big way working for St. Jude’s,” she said.
