---- — Elijah’s Table hosts free dinner
A free community dinner, Elijah’s Table, is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Etz Hayim Synagogue, 1 1/2 Hood Road.
Elijah’s Table is a joint project of Etz Hayim and the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, located next door on Hood Road.
The meal includes pasta, salad, eggplant and dessert. There will also be music and prizes. A second May dinner is planned at Church of the Transfiguration on May 26, also at 5 p.m.
Learn all about the Girl Scouts
Celebrate Girl Scout camp season, find out about other summer programs and register as a Girl Scout (girls entering K-12 in the fall) on Tuesday, May 21, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Robert Frost Farm.
There will be ice cream and Girl Scout fun.
Chamber’s Taste of the Town coming up
The Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce hosts its Taste of the Town on May 23 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire, 27 Navigator Road, Londonderry.
Tickets are $30 per person and available by calling the Chamber at 432-8205 or visit the office at 29 West Broadway.
Variety showcase planned June 1
The Greater Derry Arts Council hosts a Variety Showcase event on June 1 at 7 p.m. at the Derry Opera House on West Broadway. The show features local talent from Let’s Play Music, Dance Progressions, Kids Coop Theatre and also the top performers from the Derry’s Got Talent competition from last year.
The Arts Council is committed to the belief that the arts are vital to the quality of life and education in community, according to trustee Brenda Caldwell.
“We are so fortunate to have the Opera House right in Derry, and we want to see it utilized as much as possible,” she said.
The show’s proceeds go to support the Arts Council and Opera House upkeep and programs. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and senior citizens. All seating is general admission. Tickets will be available at the door or by calling 437-0505.
Farmers market to open next month
Derry’s Farmers Market begins its fourth season on June 19 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the parking lot at 14 Manning St., near the municipal center.
The market will be held every Wednesday through Sept. 25.
Vendors are still welcome to register for the market by calling director Beverly Ferrante at 434-8974.
Kids Coop presents ‘Seussical’
Kids Coop Theatre presents “Seussical the Musical” on May 17 at 7 p.m. and again May 18 at 1 and 7 p.m. at the Derry Opera House, 29 West Broadway.
Tickets are available at kids-coop-theatre.org. The cost is $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and students.
Kids Night set in MacGregor Park
Derry Parks and Recreation kicks off the summer season with a Kids Night event in MacGregor Park on June 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The night includes a performance by the Red Star Twirlers, children’s music, face-painting, bounce houses and food. All activities are free, except bounce house and food tickets, which are $1 or six for $5.
In case of rain, the events will be held at the Adams Memorial Opera House, 29 West Broadway. The event is hosted by Parks and Recreation, Derry Public and Taylor libraries, the Red Stars and Sylvan Learning Center. Call for information at 432-6136.
