Winter blood drive set
Derry Police will host their annual winter blood drive on Jan. 24 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Promises to Keep, 199 Rockingham Road.
All donors receive a shirt and coupons for free coffee. Appointments are recommended, but not necessary. Call 1-800-733-2767.
Birch Heights presents ‘Love Letter’
Birch Heights retirement facility, 7 Kendall Pond Road, hosts “The Love Letter,” on Jan. 25 at 11 a.m., a program to help individuals and families get their house in order by completing a family love letter and creating their own living legacy.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1617, 18 Railroad Ave., offers a night of music provided by Shadow on Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.

Potter’s Bowl set for Jan. 31
Community Caregivers of Greater Derry’s ninth annual Potter’s Bowl is set for Jan. 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Promises to Keep, Rockingham Road. There will be more than a dozen types of soups donated by area restaurants and businesses.
Guests can choose a handcrafted pottery bowl to fill and then take home. A silent auction and entertainment are also scheduled. Call 432-0877 for information.
Relay for Life planning underway
Teams are forming for the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life event, set for June 27-28 at Pinkerton Academy’s track. The 18-hour event brings community teams together to raise money and awareness for cancer patients and research.

Library hosts Midwinter Authors Day
Derry Public Library hosts a Midwinter Authors Day on Feb. 1 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Presenters include Lyn Miller Lachmann, Terry Farish, Brendan Halpin, N. Griffin and Erin Bowman.
The program is for ages 12 through adult. Get tips on writing, learn about agents and publishing, and bring work as an open mic follows. Call 432-6140.
