Buy a tree, support local causes

St. Mark’s Lodge 44 Free and Accepted Masons continue selling trees at the Masonic Lodge, 58 E. Broadway. Wreaths are also being sold to benefit Rockingham Chapter 3 Order of the Eastern Star.

The tree sale has been held for more than 25 years with proceeds supporting local organizations including the food pantry, Sonshine Soup Kitchen, Community Caregivers of Greater Derry and the Derry News Santa Fund.

Trees range in price from $30 up and are all sizes.

Stock up for winter reading Dec. 14

The Friends of the Derry Libraries will host a book sale on Dec. 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Derry Public Library, 63 East Broadway. Proceeds support six museum passes available to library patrons and other programs.

Visit the Festival of Trees Dec. 14

Birch Heights retirement facility on Kendall Pond Road hosts a Festival of Trees through Dec. 14.

Area businesses, medical centers, organizations and other agencies have contributed decorated trees with all proceeds going to Toys for Tots. Raffle tickets will be on sale for $5 to win a tree or bring a toy donation for a chance to win.

The Festival of Trees open house and tree raffle drawing is Dec. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. Meet Santa Claus and enjoy holiday specialties made by the Birch Heights chef. Trees can be viewed Monday through Friday, 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. Call 425-7755 for information.

Santa listens to animals, too

Handel With Care veterinary hospital, 33 Crystal Ave., hosts its annual pet photos with Santa on Dec. 14 from noon to 2 p.m.

Proceeds from the photos will support the Salem Animal Rescue League Toys for Tots. Call 432-1404 for information.

Choir sings at Birch Heights Dec. 15

The First Parish Church Choir sings holiday songs at Birch Heights retirement facility on Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. birch Heights is located at 7 Kendall Pond Road. Call 425-7755 for information.
