'Move for a Cure' at Birch Heights

DERRY — Through the "Move for a Cure" fundraiser, Birch Heights and Holiday Retirement communities are fighting cancer by raising funds to support cancer research. A $100 donation will be made for every move-in at over 300 communities throughout the country and in Canada through Nov. 30. Holiday Retirement has partnered with both the American and Canadian Cancer Society to support their cancer research through these donations. In only two weeks, over $43,000 has been raised.

Each community has also developed unique and fun-filled events to generate additional funds. Birch Heights, located at 7 Kendall Pond Road, will host a special fundraising event on Saturday, Nov. 21 fro 2 to 4 p.m. Containing prizes, balloons in colors representing the different types of cancers will be sold for $1.00 each. Area businesses including the Payson Center HeartGifts Boutique, Pretty Petals, Shampooch, Riverside Cleaners, Nashua Road Gulf Station, Parrot Safari and A Perfect Move, have donated everything from a Signature cancer bracelet, gift baskets and certificates for flowers, dog grooming, dry cleaning, an oil change, an American Budgie, and landscaping. There will also be a special drawing for a cruise to Mexico or the Caribbean for those who tour the community.

Bring a friend and receive a free gift. Cancer educational information and resources will be available at the event.

All money raised on this date will be donated to the American Cancer Society. To contact Birch Heights about donating a raffle prize or for more information, call 425-7755.
