Trick or treat: Tax bills mailed out
DERRY— Derry tax bills were mailed on Oct. 30 and are due and payable to the town by Dec. 1. Interest will be payable at 12 percent APR on the balance not paid by the due date.
If anyone does not receive their tax bill, contact the tax collector's office at 432-6106.
As a reminder, tax collector's hours Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Payments by check can also be made anytime by using the drop-off box, located along the drive-through lane at the Derry Municipal Center, or at the drop-off box just inside the municipal center.
For information on Derry's tax rate for 2009, visit the town's Web site at www.derry-nh.org and select "Departments-Tax Collector" to view information on the approved rate. Call the tax collector's office for any other information at 432-6106.

Woman celebrates 109th birthday
ALLEGRA BOVERMAN/Staff photos A birthday party for Catherine Dion, who just turned 109, was held at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry on Monday afternoon. She was surrounded by many members of her family and residents of the center. She is blowing out the candles on the cake that spell out her name.
Derry's oldest resident was pretty in pink when she celebrated a milestone birthday Monday. Catherine Dion turned 109 on July 26 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, where she is a resident.
