VFW hosts fundraiser April 4

Derry’s Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1617 hosts a fundraising event for members, guests and friends on April 4 from 7 to 11 p.m.

The night’s proceeds will go to support Marc Maheu and his family. The post home is located at 18 Railroad Ave.

Enjoy evening of laughs April 5

A comedy night is set for April 5 at the Stockbridge Theatre at Pinkerton Academy.

The show features comedians Judy Sloane, Dave Russo and Paul Gilligan and proceeds support LIFE of Derry and the Greater Dery Londonderry Young Professionals Network.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 and available by calling 552-7268.

Library welcomes state’s top poet

Derry Public Library hosts an event featuring N.H. Poet Laureate Alice Fogel on April 9 at 6:30 p.m. The event is part of the library’s celebration of Poetry Month all during April.

The program, “Strange Terrain: How Not to ‘Get’ Poetry and Let it Get You Instead,” is open to all.

History of Derry planned April 14

Derry Public Library trustee Elizabeth Ives, along with other performers, present “A History of Derry,” a multi-voice performance about Derry’s past, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Derry Public Library.

Ives and the others present a multi-voice performance about Derry’s past.

Created by Ives, the a group of six performers will relate the history of the founding and development of the town in song and story. Hear about the patrons and scholars, the educators and benefactors, the people and the events that are local history.

Historic period songs and keyboard music performed by a descendent of the town’s founding father, the Rev. James MacGregor, will be featured. The event is free and open to the public. Call 432-6140 for information.
