---- — Salvation Army ‘Angels’ need help

The Salvation Army still has plenty of little angels in the community needing help this holiday season.

The annual Angel Tree program is in full swing with trees located at Wal-Mart and Hannaford in Derry, 99 Restaurant in Londonderry, and at Derry Public Library.

People can take a tag off the tree, buy the gifts and then return the gifts to the Salvation Army office on Folsom Road. With more than 400 tags out there this year, the need is great.

Town employees

to be honored

Derry Municipal Center and town offices will close Friday, Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the annual Employee Recognition Luncheon.

Veterans Hall on West Broadway will also be closed during those times. For information, call the town offices at 432-6100.

Festival of Trees

is coming up

Pleasant Valley Nursing Center hosts its fifth annual Festival of Trees and silent auction event on Dec. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the nursing facility at 8 Peabody Road.

Trees decorated by area organizations and businesses will be up for bid. Treats and other holiday activities will be offered.

Proceeds will benefit the Pleasant Valley Resident Fund. Call for information at 434-1566, Ext. 14.

Holiday open

house planned

Community Caregivers of Greater Derry host a holiday open house and potluck buffet on Dec. 12 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Masonic lodge, 58 East Broadway.

Volunteers who have served Caregivers through the years will be honored, in addition to door prizes and visits with Santa. Call for information at 432-0877.

Handel With Care welcomes Santa

Handel With Care Veterinary Hospital welcomes Santa Claus on Dec. 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the facility, 33 Crystal Ave.

Pets can have photos taken with Santa. Proceeds benefit Toys for Tots and the Manchester Animal Shelter.

Cable studio welcomes holidays

Derry Community Television welcomes the holidays with special family events. On Dec. 6, from 4 to 7 p.m., cable officials offer free family holiday pictures at the studio. Photos will be delivered on CD.

On Dec. 9, the studio hosts a Family Holiday Fun Day from 2 to 4 p.m. The event includes games, crafts, stories and visits with Santa.

The local Channels 17 and 23 will broadcast special holiday messages throughout the season. For information, call Debbie Roy at the station at 845-5514. The studio is located at 14 Manning St. in the municipal building’s lower level.

Hoping for snow

for Frost Fest

Organizers of the 2013 Frost Festival are already hard at work, planning the annual event, set for Feb. 15, 16 and 17.

Events planned for the festival include children’s activities, musicians, ice sculpture, cross-country skiing, snowmobile rides, sledding, a bonfire and a sled dog demonstration.

Also scheduled for the weekend will be a “dueling pianos” performance at Promises to Keep.

Best Breakfast served Sundays

First Parish Church in East Derry serves up its Best Breakfast every Sunday now through May.

The menu includes eggs any style, omelets, bacon, sausauge, pancakes, beverages, home fries and muffins.

The cost is $6.50 for adults, $5.50 for children 12 and under and seniors 62 and up. Call for information at 434-0628.
