Snowmobile safety course offered

Parks and Recreation, Derry Pathfinders and New Hampshire Fish and Game host a snowmobile safety course on Dec. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Alexander-Carr Lodge, 28 Pierce Ave.

Participants must be at least 12 years old by April 2013. All those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Get Fido’s photo taken with Santa

The Greater Derry Humane Society hosts its annual pet pictures with Santa Claus on Dec. 1 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Barking Dog in Derry and on Dec. 2 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Barking Dog in Hooksett.

The cost is $5 per photo. Bring the pets for a fun afternoon.

Event proceeds will support the Humane Society.

Town offices to close for annual lunch

Derry town offices and Veterans Hall will be closed Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the annual Employee Recognition Luncheon.

The annual luncheon will be held at First Parish Church.

Parks and Recreation hosts a holiday trip to Boston to see the musical “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

The trip is set for Dec. 8. The bus leaves Derry at 11 a.m. and cost is $45.

After the show, participants will travel to Faneuil Hall to enjoy holiday shopping and food. Call to register at 432-6136.

Garden club will meet Dec. 7

Derry Garden Club meets Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Derry, 40 Hampstead Road.

The meeting is the annual greens workshop where members will create unique centerpieces and wreaths.

Luncheon and cookie swap will be held. Call for information at 432-7195.

Lions host tree sale

The Derry Lions Club hosts its annual holiday tree sale beginning Dec. 1 at the Citizens Bank Plaza.

Trees will be sold Thursday and Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All trees are top firs ranging in height from 6 to 9 feet.
