Derry chiropractic office gives food pantry a boost

DERRY — Broadway Chiropractic Office of Derry will celebrate its biannual patient appreciation day Wednesday, Sept. 8.

In conjunction with Doctors with a Heart, a national health practitioners' organization, the Derry chiropractic clinic will provide chiropractic services to existing patients and full evaluations to new patients at no charge.

"We're offering an opportunity for an initial visit and full chiropractic, orthopedic and neurological evaluation at no cost, which is especially beneficial for the uninsured," said Philip Szalowski, DC.

In lieu of payment, Broadway Chiropractic is asking all patients to donate nonperishable food items at the time of their visit. All items collected will be donated to the Derry First Baptist Church Food Pantry.

"Our patient appreciation days offer a great opportunity to give back to our community," said Jessica Szalowski, DC. "Previous events have been very successful for local Derry organizations, and we're hoping our patients can continue to show their support."

In February, Broadway's patient appreciation day raised more than $500 for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Derry with the help of donations from new and returning patients. In July 2009, the chiropractic firm and its patients helped collect more than 200 pounds of food products for the area's Salvation Army.

This event Sept. 8 starts at 8 a.m. to continues until 7 p.m. Patients are encouraged to call ahead for an appointment.

The Food Pantry has specifically requested canned vegetables, tuna, pasta and baked beans, but will gladly accept any nonperishable donations.
