Genealogy Roundtable set
The monthly meeting of the Genealogy Roundtable is set for Sept. 3 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Derry Public Library.
The meeting is held in the library’s downstairs meeting room. All are welcome to attend regardless of experience and research level.
Road work begins Sept. 3
As the town’s Rockingham Road construction project continues, officials have announced detour details during the work. Work starts on Sept. 3 to construct a new bridge and install water, sewer and drainage utilities on Rockingham Road.
The work will close a section of Rockingham Road between Bradford Street and Winter Hill Road until the end of November.
Detour signs and dynamic message boards will be posted to guide drivers around the construction area. Rockingham Road will be closed 24 hours a day/seven days a week until the new bridge is installed and placed in service.
Anyone wishing to reach Parkland Medical Center from the south on Route 28 will need to use alternate detour routes.
Final Hyla Brook event set
The Robert Frost Farm’s 2013 Hyla Brook Reading Series concludes for the season on Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
The guest reader is award-winning poet Alfred Nicol who will be joined by Hyla Brook poet Melissa Juchniewicz.
The series is held at the Frost Farm located at 122 Rockingham Road on Route 28. The event is free and open to the public. An open mic follows the readings and all audience members are invited to share their work.

Library hosts Minecraft Day
Taylor Library hosts a Minecraft Day on Sept. 19 from 4 to 5 p.m. Minecraft is a computer game that allows players to build anything they want, houses, farms, cities, etc.
The library program is for ages 8 and up and limited to 12 participants. Call to register at 432-7186.
