DERRY — Pinkerton Academy boys varsity soccer coach Kerry Boles has announced the players for this year's squad. Sixty-five boys tried out earlier this month.
"We have many new faces at the varsity level this year," Boles said. "The quicker they can develop and compete at this level, the better we will be."
But there are some familiar faces, too.
Returning starters include: Hayden Hicks, a senior at midfield; Dan Barker, a senior forward/midfielder; Josh Murphy, a senior midfielder; Cam Mahoney, a senior goalkeeper; Kyle Erhardt, a senior defenseman; and Sean Smith, a junior forward/midfielder.
Promising newcomers include: senior midfielder Eric Shaw; senior forward Conor McCarthy; senior forward/midfielder Nick Valentine; senior midfielder/forward Trevor Carignan; junior midfielder Tyler Garnick; junior defenseman Alex Patrikis; junior defenseman Shane Whitehouse; junior goalkeeper Peter Siragusa; junior midfielder/forward Gavin Anderson; junior forward/midfielder Jed Duchene; junior fullback/forward Antonio Villavicencio; and sophomore fullback/midfielder Dustin Beamon.
"This will be a challenging, but fun season," Boles said.
The Astros open their season Friday at Keene.
